Mustard allergy

Mustard is one of the 14 allergens that UK food businesses must declare when used as an ingredient.

Where mustard may appear

Mustard seed, mustard flour and prepared mustard can appear in sauces, dressings, marinades, spice blends and processed foods. Read the current label every time because recipes and manufacturing statements can change.

Canola and rapeseed terminology

Canadian authorities have advised mustard-allergic people about added canola protein. In the UK, canola is generally called rapeseed. This is related knowledge, not an automatic conclusion about your allergy.

Your choice matters.

If you select mustard, EatSafe can ask whether you also want canola protein flagged. It will not add that check without your answer.

If you are concerned

Discuss diagnosis and an individual management plan with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. For a suspected severe allergic reaction, follow your emergency plan and seek urgent medical help.
